Our center consists of three Head Start classrooms for ages 3 to 5 years and four Early Head Start Classrooms for ages 0 to 3. We also operate a Home-Based program that serves up to 21 families. Head Start has its own age appropriate playground.
A typical day in the classroom for our students includes multiple activities that are designed to promote learning, school readiness and social/emotional wellness. At ZHS, we realize that good nutrition, learning through play and time outdoors are also central to well-being so we make it a priority to provide these types of opportunities to our students on a daily basis.
We strongly encourage parent and community involvement in our program and we welcome visits from parents and other programs in the community at any time. There have been many volunteers who have donated time and useful materials. We appreciate their service.
Zaasijiwan Head Start offers monthly opportunities for socialization via Family Socials. We utilize a wide variety of themes in an effort to engage all of our families and encourage their participation. We often incorporate Parent Education and related activities into monthly in-service days to maximize participation and convenience.
